Dance for All in Haute-Gaspésie:
The 7th edition of FURIES! is rooted in reality!

Marsoui, April 7, 2026 — From July 23 to 26, 2026, the FURIES team is proud to welcome more than 55 artists and their teams to present 19 professional productions—both short and feature-length—as well as a host of related activities: Qi Gong, workshops for all levels, line dancing, talks, parties, bonfires, and swimming!

AN “ALL-TERRAIN” EDITION THAT RESONATES WITH A NEED FOR SOCIAL CONNECTIONS

The current social and geopolitical climate calls for greater resilience in our communities in the face of division, as well as a commitment to caring for our shared spaces, which offer hope for the preservation of our social bonds. This 7th edition is particularly marked by the festival’s artistic direction’s decision to (re)situate existing performances outside the conventional theatrical space by offering bold choreographic adaptations that will foster a unique dialogue between the works and the local environment.

This will be the case with Clara Furey’s UNARMOURED, a stage production reimagined for the sand pit at Marsoui under the midday sun, following its resounding success in Canada and internationally since its premiere in 2024. The Couvent de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts will host Lara Kramer’s play Remember that time we met in the future? in a low-tech format for a small audience, creating a productive tension between the symbolism of this desacralized space and the themes of Indigenous resurgence explored by the artist. Anne Thériault, Virginie Reid, Léandre Bourgeois, and Louis Bouvier will take over the Chapelle du Cap with the world premiere of Repos, the third installment of a trilogy on theremins, the first part of which was acclaimed at FURIES in 2023. Other new works involving motor vehicles will take over secret locations revealed only to ticket holders, including Habitacle by Stéphanie Beaudoin and LACTANGLU by Laurence Lallier-Roussin and Audrée Lewka. The pieces Twinning by Kalliane “Yofi” Brémault and Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep, bang bang by Manuel Roque, and Le bouscueil: sieste sonore no. 1 by Guillaume Campion are part of the free selection of site-specific performances that will engage audiences in familiar locations throughout Marsoui. In short, while FURIES has always championed experimental works in the Haute-Gaspésie region, next July’s program promises bold reinterpretations and audience experiences that emphasize intimacy, fresh perspectives, and the importance of being together.

TOGETHER, IN THE THEATER

FURIES audiences will also come together for a series of indoor performances. A leading partner of FURIES for the past five years, the Maison de la culture de Sainte-Anne-des-Monts will host the festival’s Opening Night for the very first time, a sign of renewed mutual trust. On this occasion, Alexia Vinci, Mithra ‘Myth’ Rabel, and Athena Lucie Assemba will offer spaces for reflection and dialogue, as well as powerful performances. Alexandre Morin and Mathieu Leroux arrive in Sainte-Anne-des-Monts with the vigor of nine up-and-coming professional performers bursting with explosive energy, while Élodie Lombardo and Chi Long present a dance-theater performance exploring identity and immigration through a sensitive personal narrative. Alongside these performances, followed by lively discussions, Stéphanie Beaudoin will present the exhibition Backwash: In the Troubled Waters of Our Connections in the Maison de la culture gallery, free of charge.

Three uncompromising shows will ultimately take place at the legendary Marsoui Recreation Centre: Mōnad by Alexandra “Spicey” Landé & Jai Nitai Lotus, Falla by Julia B. Laperrière, and Millepertuis by Sovann Rochon-Prom Tep will captivate audiences with their passionate and infectious performances in the relaxed atmosphere of this historic venue.

TOGETHER, ON THE DANCEFLOOR

Being together also means seeking joy and letting go while enjoying shared moments. That’s exactly what FURIES offers through its workshops and festive evenings! Join the Qi Gong sessions on the beach with Marlene Sohier, the line dance class with Christine Lever and Lorraine Garneau, or the all-level workshops to move and recharge with Alexandra ‘Spicey’ Landé and Stéphanie Beaudoin. Keep the momentum going with the SPURS Night featuring Noel Transcendance Vezina and Julien Pagé, offered free of charge at La Pointe Sec, or the Party-sur-mer to get into a trance to the beats of DJ Sovann at the Marsoui Recreation Centre. The festival ends on a high note with its Closing Night, featuring artistic pop-ups by Brian Mendez, Aurélie Ann Figaro, and Laurence Lallier-Roussin, with music by DJ BlackGold.
