Michael Martini creates works for various contexts, from the gallery to the video screen to the blackbox. Since graduating from Concordia University’s Playwriting program, he has worked in French and English in Montreal, anchored by the city’s queer and interdisciplinary scene. His DIY practice layers text, video, direct address, and dress-up. He works often with artists coming from other disciplines, such as in his co-creation “Ça a l’air synthétique bonjour hi,” which received numerous awards 2018. In 2023, he presented projects at Tangente, La Chapelle, OFFTA, and FTA (his text). “What if Hansel…” was recently selected for a presentation at OFF-Avignon in 2024.
