10 performers, a composer-musician and a master of ceremonies offer you an outdoor experience on Marsoui’s sumptuous Henley beach, immersing you in the fundamentals of dance, body presence and creation.
Here, COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD offers a performance made up of a number of new works; moments of pure dance that make sense and allow you to discover dance in a different way; performances, sometimes participatory, that lighten the heart, create the joy of rediscovering the body and offer the well-being of a new-found community.
An enchantment imbued with care and comfort. You’re invited to bring your own blanket to wrap up in.
This performance takes place as part of COMPAGNIE MARIE CHOUINARD’s tour: from July 28 to August 17, the company takes to the coast of the Lower St. Lawrence and to Gaspésie for a tour of free outdoor shows, caravanning from village to village.
The worldwide recognition of the Compagnie Marie Chouinard is the fruit of work begun thirty years ago by Montreal artist Marie Chouinard. Today, the company is acclaimed on stages the world over and at major international festivals, but its story actually began as early as 1978, when soloist Marie Chouinard presented her first creation. From 1978 to 1986, Marie Chouinard performed alone on stages all over the world, developing a personal language with universal resonance. She founded the Compagnie Marie Chouinard in 1986. In the works she has created since then, the choreographer has explored a poetics of the body that is both intelligible and immediate, and always astonishing.
